Note: William Lester Wemple graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana
- Champaign, Illinois, in 1898 with a degree of Bachelor of Science
. In 1903 he graduated from Harvard Law School with a degree of Bache
lor of Law. In 1904 he was admitted to the New York State bar and pra
cticed until 1909, when he was appointed Assistant Attorney General fo
r the southern district, State of New York, serving 2 years. In 191
1 he was appointed by President William H. Taft, U.S. Attorney in char
ge of customs in New York, serving until 1914. He was associated wit
h J.W.H. Crim of Martinville, NY, in the practice of law for several y
ears with offices at 30 Broad Street, Newark, NJ. He later became ass
ociated with the law firm of Worcester & Saxe, and in 1929 resumed pri
vate practice of law at 76 William Street, specializing in customs law
. He was a member of American Bar Association of New York City |
